South African Rapper and Producer, Finesse Truth, Shares The Importance Of Using High Quality Equipment

While most Youtubers like telling smaller artists to work with what they have and that it's never about the equipment but about how one uses it that counts, South African Rapper and record Producer does not agree with these sentiments.

Here's his take on this;

That shit is a lie, people that say such always have expensive equipment. You would find that they have an interface that costs 20k, a microphone that's about 15k or 50k. The bottom line is equipment always counts, don't stick with the cheap equipment in hopes of saving money. You have to go all out.

Film production is no different from this, take a video with a cheap camera and another with a high quality camera. The final result of the two videos would not be the same even if you applied the same effects, the video taken with a quality camera will be superior.

Finesse continues to add that some creatives took the "use what you have" notion and just used it as an excuse to settle for mediocrity while the saying was intended to inspire people to make the best out of what they have not to live comfortably off of it.
