Exclusive Interview: Nathvn Chats About The Success Of 'All You Need' And Announces An Acoustic Version

Nathvn, a Kimberley-based singer and songwriter, reacted to us just over a month ago, shortly after uploading his now-viral hit, 'All You Need,' for us to listen to. Only a month later, the song has been played over 25 000 times worldwide, and the number is still growing. Nathvn is an artist who takes care in his work, as evidenced by his work ethic; we needed to contact him for a follow-up story, and he accepted without hesitation. Let's take a closer look at what motivates him!

1. First of all, thank you for taking time out of your creative schecule to do this with us. For our uninitiated readers, tell us about Nathvn and what his music represents.

Well my background is really simple as any artist I grew up in a family that’s very musically inclined so from a young age my ear has been trained to hear things not everyone usually hears. Sounds, melodies and compositions. At the age of 6 I ventured into playing instruments and from there transitioned into producing. It wasn’t until a few years later that I eventually got into singing and engineering my own music

The aim behind my music is to make it relatable for majority of people. Me being a male grew up being told that showing emotion is a sign of weakness and crying isn’t manly I seeked out and found a different way to express myself and that is through music.

All my songs either tell a story of what I’ve been through or what emotions and thoughts I have.

2. Wow, that's incredible. Speaking of being relatable, your new song is really catchy and is doing so well for itself so quickly! What do you think of how it's spreading?

The year 2022 was a really tough year and the way our generation has been brought up and brainwashed by technology you can’t really trust anyone so through all the time I’ve basically been alone and that’s how ‘All You Need’ was born. It’s basically a letter to myself telling me to never give up, it might be tough but just hold on and chase your dreams.

While busy on the production of ‘All You Need’ which started back in August 2022 I made a vow to myself that in 2023 we making a difference and going big.

So for me every release has to top the previous it’s only logical. My previous release ‘Late Night Calls’ is on 30000 all time streams and ‘All You Need’ is strongly on its way to surpass that number in less than 2 months..

3. That's crazy!! Your work ethic is more motivating. How do you make sure that the public can easily access the music you create?

Everything is so easy in the current time we living in. Almost everyone has and working cellphone and some way to connect to the internet. Digital streaming platforms has changed the way of music back in the day people needed CDs and Vinyl now it’s as simple as clicking a link.

Being an independent artist it’s a struggle to get your music out there as there is no label supporting us and pushing us to get in front of the right people everything is up to as an artist.

4. Solid and you clearly have no intentions of slowing down, how did you come to the decision of releasing an acoustic version of 'All You Need'?

I’m a classically trained musician so I love the sound of live music and music that’s not over complicated and processed.

This song is deep and meaningful so how do I make it hit deeper and resonate more with the listener? Acoustic. This way it’s more authentic and shows more character and emotion.

5. One thing for sure is that we will definitely be on the lookout!! I've picked up that you love music a lot. What has music done for you so far and what would you say was your biggest musical moment since you started?

My love for music spans from the emotion, passion and story behind a song.

Music has helped me through a lot of tough times and has become a coping mechanism basically.

My biggest musical moment has probably been when I won the talent show at 2 different high schools. Competition was tough and I was just starting out.

6. Well this has been an honour chopping this up with you, you're really a musician that answered his calling. What can fans expect from you going forward?

For this year there is no album planned, but a whole lot of singles. This year I just want to grow the name ‘Nathvn’

7. And for creatives that might want to collaborate with you, which channels should they follow to get in touch with you?

My experiences with other artists and collaborations have all been terrible so until I find someone that I want to collab with I won’t be doing any Collaborations 🙃

8. Haha, I feel you brother king and I respect that. It's all about preserving that positive energy! Once again thanks for your time.

Anytime bro, thanks for taking the time to do this article 🙌🏽
